High Energy Physicists Set New Record for Network Data Transfer

Harvey Newman, (HEP, Caltech), Prof. Steven Low, (Netlab, Caltech) and collaborators continue to set records on fast large long distance data transfers, using FAST TCP.
- Prof. Steven Low and FAST TCP are mentioned in Discover magazine article based on an interview with fellow Caltech collaborator Prof. John Doyle.
- TCP evaluation: Round Table Discussion held at Caltech, sponsored by WAN-in-Lab on Nov 8-9, 2007. Researchers from groups around the world, discuss benchmarking parameters for TCP protocols.
- Authors at Caltech and Netlab receive the best paper award at
MASS conference Oct 2007.
- Ao (Kevin) Tang is awarded the 2007 Charles Wiltz
Doctoral Prize for "outstanding independant research"
leading to a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Caltech.
- Netlab's PhD graduates graduated in 2007.
- FastSoft Inc., launches its product FastSoft Aria, whose
technology was inspired by Netlab research.
- PFLDnet2007 workshop in February 2007 at ISI (USC) in
Marina Del Rey, LA is co-chaired by Lachlan Andrew of Netlab.
2006
- Ao (Kevin) Tang wins the 2006 George
Dantzig Award for best doctoral dessertation in operations research and
management sciences. His thesis was titled "Heterogenous Congestion Control Protocol". This prestigous first
prize from INFORMS was presented at
the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, November 2006.
- Lijun Chen runs course in Fall 2006: CDS270 Optimization, Game and
Layering in Communications Networks.
